Digital Built Week NA 2020

12 - 15 August, 2020, San Diego, United States

Digital Built Week NA is a series of events brought to you annually by the Digital Built Environment Institute.
It is the flagship event designed to cater to the needs of those who design, build, operate and maintain our built environment. The week includes the sub-events of BILT, BCS, Data Day, DTS and DBEI Hackathon.
These events focus on the use of BIM tools, BIM processes and workflows, as well as project and practice strategies and leadership skills. Find out more about each event below:

BILT is designed to cater to the needs of those who design, build, operate and maintain our built environment. As a community of professionals, it is dedicated to improving the way industry works together. We believe that:

  • Technology is an enabler of better processes and outcomes, not a driver in and of itself.
  • Our industry has failed to keep pace with others in productivity and innovation, but that provides clear opportunities for improvement.
  • Our industry is siloed, fractured and too often adversarial; but we wish to play a role in changing this by bringing people together from different backgrounds to learn from each other.
  • Getting people to change behaviours is the hardest part of any change.
  • As an educational and networking event, BILT provides a variety of opportunities to learn and share, to probe and challenge, to listen and to be heard. Our sessions focus on the use of best-in-class tools, processes and workflows, behaviours and leadership.

The Building Content Summit (BCS) brings together thought leaders from around the world of Design, Construction, Manufacturing and Software Services.

Now in its sixth year, BCS has drawn hundreds of industry influencers who have engaged in the important conversations needed to improve the quality and processes involved in the development of BIM content.

This 2-day conference is an eclectic mix of plenary and intimate roundtable sessions where you will hear different perspectives, help develop and set trends, connect with peers and learn how to drive a
positive ROI with quality BIM Content.

Data Day is a conference where AECO industry leaders have a conversation about data in their industry.  Data Day sessions focus on the current state of data (what people are doing now), and on what can be accomplished to visualize the data gathered, and how data drives business decisions. Session types include presentations, panel sessions, intimate roundtable discussions as well as data labs.

The Design Technology Summit (DTS) is an exclusive event that brings together professionals from large firms in the Architecture and Engineering (AE) design industry who have a responsibility for managing and implementing design technology.   Attendance at DTS is by invitation only and limited to 40 registrants. We feel that this number will better foster an atmosphere of active and meaningful discussions between everyone.

We believe the AEC industry is poised for modernization.  The pressures and expectations placed on firms have reached a critical threshold.  Technology has successfully assisted other parties in the AECO team, and it has the capacity to assist us as well, in significant ways.

As practitioners and technologists, we have often been the ones called on to help our organizations find opportunities to modernize.  DTS brings us together to share our experiences and knowledge, and identify opportunities to improve.

The DBEI Hackathon A two-day design sprint-like competition where teams work together, on a specific idea, with the goal to create usable software or hardware as functioning prototype or product by the end of the event.
