This presentation will explore a digital solution for Infrastructure Signal & Signage Sighting. With complex and constrained project sites an innovative solution was developed to provide certainty around the position and location of signals and signage throughout an alignment during the design stages, using validation methods to improve the delivery within a BIM environment. We’ll demonstrate how traditional signal sighting is assessed from the typical 2D environment to the on site assessment method. We’ll show how the digital solution developed through real world project examples that has now become business as usual.
To compliment this presentation we will also be showing our signal sighting standalone application which is designed to enhance the design process and evaluate with a dashboard that illustrates key design criteria’s. The presentation will show the signal sighting application and accompanying workflow. The goal for this real-time application was to create a template-like solution so GHD can quickly and easily integrate Signal Sighting as a standard feature on rail projects with minimal cost. The template will allow teams to import designs from Revit or Navisworks and then visualise in a real time environment possible signal sighting issues in both Desktop and VR platforms. Overall we will show our custom workflows in design applications like Revit and Navisworks and how we have integrated video game technologies into the AEC Space which allows us to take advantage of real-time gaming engines for problem solving and enhanced user interaction which can be deployed and published with minimal cost.
