Session 2.4
Strategically implementing a BIM Training Programme across your business.
Synopsis:
This session will give an overview of how an organisation can apply a consistent methodology to support a tailored training solution when it comes to BIM and Digital Engineering. The class will summarise how to implement a BIM/DE assessment to determine existing skills gaps to enable and support a strategic approach toward training rather than a one size fits all approach.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to create bespoke BIM Assessments relative to your business to understand existing skills gaps.
2. Understand the content which you will need to develop in BIM and Digital Engineering that is not technical or software driven.
3. Feedback to your senior leaders on detailed analysis of existing skills which will support future projects with BIM and DE in mind.
Body:
There are a variety of BIM and DE Policies in place in Australia and globally to enable the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Engineering (DE). At present and globally there are issues with current BIM skills and knowledge and many organisations are looking to grow their employer skills by applying a strategy toward training, much like the strategy toward any future process driving growth. At present there is very much a lack of understanding when it comes to implementing a strategic approach toward developing training solutions bespoke to an organization. This session will explain the importance of personalization for training across a business and in line with the required skills per individual across your business, regardless if you are a 10 person or 100-person organization.
This session is very much an overview of one of our projects where we were appointed to support the future skill requirements of the organisation in BIM specific processes, standards and terminologies rather than the technology. We will give you an update on how we assessed skills across a 500-person organization in order to tailor training toward existing skills to essentially provide the right training to the right people. Our strategic training approach focused on tiers of raining based on staff ranking which included a combination of online, virtual classrooms and face to face workshops. We will discuss the process of re-assessing staff following training to be able to report back to the client on the success of the programme and as a result of early KPI definitions.
Using online training portals, live documentation for development of training content and Power BI as a data analysis tool this session will provide you with insight on how to ensure your people and the future of your business aligns to a Skills Training Strategy. It is important that this is addressed to support the growing requirements of skills in BIM Process and standards as well as retaining and allocating the right people to projects with the best skills.
